Rebar UI

Version Log

What actually changed, release by release — pulled from this project's own git history, not reconstructed from memory. See Roadmap for where the project is headed next; this page is the record of where it's already been.

  1. 1.0.0 — current
basilika, the Athic look, becomes Rebar UI's canonical theme (@rebar-ui/theme-basilika, data-rebar-theme=basilika), with zero-config tokens, a light and a dark scheme, and a data-rebar-scheme lock for any subtree. New constructs: TopBar, List and ListItem, ImagePicker, AuthScreen, ReadingView, HeroSplit, Section, PageHeader, Onboarding, Prose and Markdown, plus imperative toast() and confirm(). Existing constructs gained opt-in variants, props and tokens (AiChatInput boxed, ChatThread bubbles, NoticeBar banner, Button classic and tonal, native Checkbox, RadioGroup and Select, pill Tabs and more) so an app can reproduce a hand-built design pixel for pixel; defaults are unchanged. Small coral text uses the new --rebar-color-primary-text-ink token. The docs site was rebuilt around live, Tideline-backed demos with mobile frames.
  2. 0.12.1
FloatAssistant gained a sidebar dock: a toggle button in the panel header swaps the default 360x520 floating panel for a full-height layout anchored to the right screen edge, with a Claude-Code-style input toolbar (attachment, slash-command, history, an optional model pill, submit) in place of the compact floating input — opt-in via a new sidebarDockable prop, every existing floating-panel behavior unchanged unless it's set. The homepage was restructured: the three-pillars overview now leads (right after the hero) instead of sitting behind a live Rebar-vs-AntD comparison demo, a short doc-section now narrates the actual "build volatile, migrate once stable" argument in prose instead of only living in one dense hero sentence, and the heavy embedded-iframe comparison was replaced with a lightweight measured-numbers table linking out to the full methodology on /about/benchmarks. A broad documentation audit fixed a long-drifted class of stale cross-references (a plural agents.md/robot-md naming that hadn't matched the real agent.md file or /about/agent route in some time, ConstructRenderer renamed to BlockRenderer, /benchmarks moved under /about/benchmarks) across CLAUDE.md, README.md, CONTRIBUTING.md, ref/ARCHITECTURE.md, and a dozen-plus component source comments; ref/TIERS.md was rewritten against freshly verified counts (42 constructs, not 39) and given its long-missing fifth-tier (Genesis) explanation; and ref/TIERS.md, CONSTRUCTS.md, BENCHMARK_CONTRIBUTING.md, COMPONENT_BUILD_PLAN.md, and COMPONENT_BACKLOG.md — all silently caught by .gitignore's blanket ref/ rule despite being referenced throughout the codebase — are now actually tracked by git.
  3. 0.12.0
FloatAssistant shipped as a new Opinion-tier construct: a floating AI assistant orb with drag-to-move physics (screen-edge bounce), minimize-to-dot, voice and text input modes, and server-side API proxy integration for secure LLM/RAG calls. Three orb personas — Spark (energetic flame-like core), Strato (calm atmospheric haze), and Chorus (metaball flow orb) — each with tuned Idle/Thinking/Listening/Speaking states interpolated via exponential smoothing. A design-comparison sandbox at /dev/orb-comparison pairs a reference video against the live WebGL orb for iterative shader tuning. The heuristics page gained all 46 items from ref/HEURISTICS.md in readable prose. The mega-menu construct landed for dense site navigation. GraphExplorer got boundary-clamped drag physics and an adaptive panel that flips sides based on orb position. The about/agent page now renders the full agent.md in a code block with a hero image. Nav links no longer paint as body-text hyperlinks. Tier sidebars label their root 'All Imitations' etc. instead of the generic 'All in this tier'. The 'block' pseudo-category was retired — block types now carry their real web/mobile/diagram category. Block pages regained their live examples from the old /blocks mega-page. The SiteFooter's dead /docs/* links were rewritten to their current homes.
  4. 0.11.0
Per-section narration audio (a real Alibaba Cloud Model Studio voice) on tier Philosophy sections, archetype essays, the Heuristics page, and Benchmarks — opt-in per doc-section, never a whole-page player unless the content is essay-shaped. SignaturePad gained real e-signature capture: typed cursive names, image upload, and a device stamp the component itself HMAC-signs client-side from a caller-supplied key, rather than a decodable hash. ColorPicker gained a real browser EyeDropper tool. A genuine sticky-sidebar bug — present on every catalogue page (Opinions, Synthetics, Imitations, Orders, Geneses, Archetypes, Benchmarks) since NavIndex shipped — is fixed: the left index now pins its search/filter/"All X" header while only the item list scrolls. ThemeToggle gained single-control mutations (a classic icon-in-thumb light/dark switch, style-only, bionic-only). This page.
  5. 0.10.0
The largest single gap-closing pass in the project's history: SignaturePad, ImageCropper, VideoPlayer, CommentThread, TagInput, PhoneInput, Container, Grid, SkipLink, and WorkspaceSwitcher shipped, and AppShell grew from one shape to seven real variants plus a composable right panel. Cross-tier ConstructSearch landed in the site header; the top nav's mega-menu split into "Construct Library" and "Framework" sections. The catalog crossed 175 components and 40 blocks.
  6. 0.9.0
`robot.md` renamed to `agents.md` (matching the emerging cross-industry convention) and a dedicated LLM.MD page shipped alongside it.
  7. 0.8.0
Deploy pipeline fixes: hosting corrected to the actual rebarui Firebase project (it had been publishing to the wrong one), and the release script now bumps every package in lockstep instead of needing each one touched by hand.
  8. 0.7.0
A new `block-entry` block type, and every tier catalogue page switched to printing its own listing through it — closing a hand-authored gap the Packer itself should have owned from the start.
  9. 0.6.0
ChatThread's message bubble took ownership of its own loading-to-streaming transition instead of leaning on a caller's isTyping flag; Select gained a size prop matching Button's sm/md/lg scale; the form block's live-data gap closed with real onSubmit wiring and controlled fields for every field kind.
  10. 0.5.0
Blocks stopped being purely static JSON — source and onX bindings let a real backend-driven app wire live data and handlers straight through a block, resolved by BlockRenderer's new data/handlers props. Landed alongside the four-tier construct taxonomy (Imitations, Synthetics, Opinions, Orders) as a mechanically-checked classification, not a naming convention.
  11. 0.4.0
Table gained a dev-mode-only warning for a column shaped like a drill-down aggregate with no render function — never blocking, just surfacing a real, previously-silent gap. New heuristic: a chat/messaging component spans its container's full width by default rather than trusting a layout context that might not stretch it.
  12. 0.3.0
Ten new chart components (StackedLineChart, StackedAreaChart, SteppedBarChart, StepChart, IndexChart, Histogram, RibbonChart, CalendarHeatmap, BulletGraph, PackedBubbleChart) plus a shared trendline prop across the existing chart family. SidebarNav grew a real mutation set: a workspace switcher, built-in self-filtering search, tint/bar/fill active-item styling, and inline/edge collapse-toggle placement. REBAR_UI_VERSION started stamping itself onto the document root the moment the package is imported, so any rebar-ui-built page carries an inspectable record of which version built it.
  13. 0.2.0
The site header's logo became a real inline SVG instead of an externally-loaded image, so it can actually react to the light/dark toggle; the favicon gained the same light/dark awareness via a prefers-color-scheme media query.
  14. 0.1.0
First public release — the core component library and the placement layer's Packer ship as separate packages in the open-source repo for the first time.
